Abel prize 2003

The Abel prize in mathematics was assigned for the first time in Oslo on the 4th April 2003, at the Norwegian Academy of Sciences, to commemorate the norwegian mathematician Niels Henrik Abel.

The winner of the Abel prize 2003 is

Jean Pierre Serre
for his contributions in topology, algebraic geometry, and number theory.
